Melting point:
Anhydrous barium chloride: 962°C.
Barium chloride dihydrate: about 120°C (loss of crystal water).
Boiling point: 1560°C (anhydrous barium chloride).
Solubility:
Soluble in water, solubility increases significantly with temperature (about 37 g/100 mL water at 20°C).
Hygroscopicity: anhydrous barium chloride has strong hygroscopicity, and
will absorb water when exposed to air, forming barium chloride dihydrate.
